De Klerk is a qualified Chartered Accountant with 25 years of experience in the property sector and extensive experience in takeovers, mergers, and acquisitions.
He started his career at Eskom Durban Distribution as an MIS Manager in 1992 before joining Investec Property Group’s fund management business.
At Investec, de Klerk was appointed as a Fund Manager and later as an Executive Director of Metboard.
He then joined Growthpoint Properties as an Executive Director and the Group Managing Director, before taking on his current role as CEO of Growthpoint South Africa.
De Klerk is also the Chairman of the SA REIT Association and a former President of the South African Property Owners Association (SAPOA).
