New development with a shopping mall coming to South Africa
A new development, Palm View Estate, consisting of three different residential offerings, a shopping centre, schools, and offices, is set to launch soon in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
Palm View is situated in the sugarcane valleys of KZN’s North Coast, 10 minutes outside of Ballito. It consists of three developments.
The first, Eco Estate, consists of smaller, lower-priced units and will launch on 14 June. This estate provides quality homes within a safe, secure, gated estate environment.
Free-standing Homes start from R751,000 for a 40m2 unit. These full-title free-standing homes, with exclusive landscaped gardens, are pet-friendly and green-conscious.
Features such as smart meters, solar geysers, LED lighting, aluminium windows, sliding doors, and optimal insulation all contribute to energy and water savings for the homeowner. There are four single-story options currently.
The mix of homes provides a wide product range that is well-suited for First-Time home buyers and young and growing families.
The next development, Palm View Country Estate, offers spacious, open-plan, premium homes. These freestanding homes have stands of approximately 1,000 m².
Situated within a safe, secure, gated estate environment, the Country Estate homes fill the gap between our Eco Estate homes and the vast array of high-end houses on the North Coast.
The final residential development, the Palm View Retirement Estate, is a retirement village with high-care facilities set to launch in 2026.
It offers a comprehensive retirement product that caters to people at various retirement stages, including assisted living options. The estate provides quality retirement homes within a safe, secure, gated estate environment.
In addition to the various security measures, Palm View Retirement Estate offers residents a relaxed lifestyle, with landscaped gardens and vast tropical open spaces incorporating walkways throughout the estate.
A complete lifestyle centre is also provided, with doctor’s consultation and nurses’ rooms, a fitness studio, an indoor pool, a library, a restaurant, a bar, a community hall, a convenience store and 24-hour emergency standby.

Palm View also has a retail shopping mall, Shaka’s Corner, which is set to launch in August. It consists of commercial stands totalling 8.58 ha and a Taxi Rank measuring 0.995 ha.

Although the developer, Alley Roads, only acquired Palm View Estate 2 years ago, the development planning has been 13 years in the making.
“It takes considerable time and money to get a project of this magnitude to the stage it is at today,” the group explained.
This results from all the necessary land acquisitions, zoning, approvals, service level agreements, infrastructure, market research, development planning, architectural and urban planning, and market campaigning.
“It will be years before another development of this kind goes to ground on the North Coast.” According to Alley Roads, housing and infrastructure are the number one catalyst for global economic growth.
“The housing aspect of this economic growth is even more significant in South Africa as there is a substantial undersupply of housing, especially for the low to middle-income market.”
“The demand for housing in South Africa is expected to grow even further as people seek their own homes that are safe, secure and offer private indoor and outdoor living.”
There are additional incentives to drive property investment, such as all-time low interest rates at 7.25% and transfer duty exemption for homes under R1 million.
