The car dealership in South Africa ranked in the top 100 in the world

Hyundai’s East Rand dealership in Boksburg has found itself ranked within the company’s Global Top 100 Dealerships for 2025.

This has secured it official recognition as one of the South Korean automobile manufacturer’s highest performing dealerships in the world.

The dealership was selected from a global network of more than 3,000, placing it in the top 3% of all Hyundai dealerships worldwide.

The Global Top 100 is presented every year to recognise dealerships which have excelled in new vehicle sales, aftersales service, customer satisfaction and overall business performance.

Stanley Anderson, the CEO of Hyundai Automotive South Africa, said the award was proof of the consistent performance of the dealership.

“Hyundai East Rand has consistently delivered outstanding results across every area of the business,” Anderson said.

“This recognition reflects their commitment to excellence and determination to exceed customer expectations.”

During the 2025 financial year, Hyundai East Rand sold 1,824 new vehicles and serviced a further 6,140 vehicles for its customers.

This averages out to approximately five new vehicles sold and almost 17 vehicles serviced every single day for the duration of 2025.

The Dealer Principal at Hyundai East Rand, Xolani Mpabanga, said the award was a reflection of his staff’s collective hard work and the loyalty of their customers.

“This achievement belongs to every member of our team and the customers who continue to support us,” Mpabanga said.

“Being recognised among Hyundai’s top dealerships globally motivates us to continue raising our standards even further.”

Hyundai East Rand is not the only South African dealership to land in the Global Top 100 this year, as its Springfields Park dealership also managed to secure a spot.

Last year, Hyundai’s Pinetown dealership became the first South African dealership to land in the top 100, servicing 12,000 vehicles and selling over 250 vehicles a month the year prior.

Hyundai continues to show strong sales

The sales performance at Hyundai’s East Rand dealership represents only a small part of the company’s overall sales success in South Africa.

According to data from the Automotive Business Council, NAAMSA, Hyundai sold a total of 36,409 new vehicles over the course of 2025, an average of over 3,000 per month.

This earned it the number four spot in the list of the best selling automobile manufacturers in the country during that year, behind Toyota, Suzuki, and Volkswagen.

Nearly half of Hyundai’s sales figures were attributed to its Grand i10 model, which sold 16,054 units and ended the year as the sixth best selling passenger vehicle in South Africa.

In a letter sent to Hyundai’s East Rand and Springfields Park dealerships, Hyundai President and CEO José Muñoz praised the resilience of its teams despite challenging market conditions.

“Last year presented significant challenges for the global automotive industry, with market volatility, regulatory uncertainty, intensified competition, and geopolitical pressures,” Muñoz said.

“Despite these conditions, Hyundai achieved resilient performance thanks to your dedication and outstanding efforts.”

Hyundai’s strong sales performance continued into 2026, with the company retaining its fourth place spot by selling 18,220 passenger vehicle units during the first six months of this year.

In March, the company announced it had surpassed a total sales milestone of 800,000 vehicles, 25 years after the South Korean brand first launched in the country.

Today, there are 97 Hyundai dealerships across South Africa, with 44 of these being directly owned by Hyundai themselves.

However, the company holds almost no local manufacturing presence in the country, instead importing almost all of its vehicles from India and South Korea.

While Hyundai does have an assembly plant in the Apex Industrial area near Benoni, this is solely used for the production of commercial vehicles, most notably its H100 bakkie.
