The South African shopping mall with an ultra-luxury grocery store and its own spa
The View, a new upmarket retail development next to Fourways Mall in Johannesburg, is bringing premium grocery shopping and restaurants to the area.
Located at the intersection of Cedar Road and Witkoppen Road, The View features tenants including The Pantry by Marble, Tashas, and Mangwanani Spa.
The development forms part of the broader repositioning of Fourways Mall by JSE-listed real estate investment trust Accelerate Property Fund, which co-owns the mall.
The View is designed to attract customers looking for premium dining and lifestyle experiences, with several tenants entering the Fourways area for the first time.
Its official launch is scheduled for 15 October. One of the most anticipated tenants, Pantry by Marble, opened its doors on 1 October 2026.
The store offers an in-store butchery, gourmet products, speciality wines, hot meals, a bespoke bakery and an ice cream parlour.
Other tenants include Food Lover’s Market, Clay Cafe, Fournos Bakery, Petworld, Nonna’s Italian Grill, and Popsicle Nail Bar.
The View’s tenant mix reflects demand for more high-end restaurants and premium brands in Fourways.
The View’s leasing executive, Neritika Padayachey, said she asked members of the local I Love Fourways Facebook group what they wanted to see at the mall. Many requested more upmarket restaurants and premium brands.
While Fourways offers dining options, these are primarily quick-service restaurants. Padayachey said the team recognised that not all customers wanted to visit a food court.
The View was a response to this gap, designed as a separate, more premium destination.
Its elevated position also offers west-facing views and sunsets, which the development team believes will support its restaurant offering.
The site has access from Cedar Road, Witkoppen Road, and Fourways Boulevard. A direct pedestrian route from Fourways Mall, running past the iStore, is also intended to connect the two retail areas.
Shoppers will receive one hour of free parking, with parking free after 17:00. Parking is available on each retail level, while security booms are intended to support a safe shopping environment.
The development also includes upgraded parking facilities and improved landscaping, supported by a tree-planting initiative with Johannesburg City Parks.
The aim is to make The View accessible to customers who want to visit a restaurant, shop for groceries, or use its lifestyle services without having to navigate the entire shopping centre.
Transforming South Africa’s biggest mall

For years, the country’s biggest mall had been suffering from high vacancy rates, maintenance issues, and declining foot traffic.
In February 2024, the mall’s co-owners, Accelerate Property Fund and Azrapart, appointed Flanagan & Gerard to rescue Fourways Mall.
Since then, they have worked to turn around the mall by securing new tenants, addressing maintenance issues, and improving the flow of customers through the property.
The View is part of a wider effort to change how customers use Fourways Mall, moving beyond conventional shopping towards dining, entertainment and leisure.
The redevelopment team said securing premium tenants was not straightforward. The leasing team also had to persuade prospective tenants to invest in a space that needed substantial upgrades.
Some brands rejected proposals several times before agreeing to open at The View. “I think The Pantry probably said no 10 times,” said Flanagan & Gerard’s Director of Finance, John Holly.
“Tashas has probably said no to us five times. They didn’t see the vision, and now they are here because they do.”
Transforming The View also required many practical and design changes. The work included installing six new escalators and redesigning areas around existing infrastructure.
One of the most visible additions is a large lily feature around a lift shaft. This lily design is now one of the most recognisable features of the entire centre.
