New luxury estate launching in one of South Africa’s most prestigious suburbs

A new boutique luxury estate, Hazel Oaks, is being developed in Constantia, offering six high-end homes amid strong demand in one of Cape Town’s most prestigious suburbs.

Constantia, one of Cape Town’s most beautiful and historic suburbs, is renowned for its wine estates, acclaimed restaurants, natural surroundings, and relaxed luxury lifestyle.

Renewed international buyer activity, combined with sustained premium pricing, continues to reinforce the area’s enduring appeal.

The newly-launched Hazel Oaks residential estate, co-developed by Innovate Property and Platform, reflects this momentum.

Set on a quiet cul-de-sac lined with mature cork oaks, the boutique development comprises just six architect-designed homes on large 1,200 m² stands.

The development will offer secure, modern living in one of the most prestigious areas of Constantia Upper in Cape Town.

“The opportunity arose to develop a rare, well-positioned site in Upper Constantia,” said the project co-developer, Innovate Property’s Andre Krige. “The development is boutique and beautifully integrated into the natural environment.”

Platform’s David Talbot added that the broader Constantia Valley carries strong historical and environmental significance.

“The site called for architecture that is intrinsic to its location, drawing on the vernacular, while responding to the contemporary premium lifestyle associated with this most exclusive neighbourhood,” Talbot said.

“Particular attention was given to preserving mature trees, maximising mountain views and designing for premium contemporary living.”

Talbot explained that “the design elements include clean, modern lines softened with natural materials, timber and stone accents that nod to the valley’s agricultural heritage”.

The development also features generous glazing to frame mountain views, and indoor-outdoor flow suited to the Constantia climate.

“Large open ceiling volumes with exposed trusses enhance light and a sense of openness. Rather than replicate historical styles, the aim is to reinterpret them in a refined, modern way,” Talbot said.

An Upper Constantia landmark

Upper Constantia in Cape Town continues to see strong demand for secure, modern homes within established residential nodes.

Many of the area’s larger, older properties require extensive upgrades, and buyers are increasingly seeking turnkey luxury homes.

These buyers also want properties which offer energy-efficient design, advanced security, manageable erf sizes, and lock-up-and-go convenience.

The Hazel Oaks team said the development addresses these preferences with its deliberately boutique scale, which provides privacy and exclusivity rarely found in larger estates.

Sustainability is embedded in both home design and estate infrastructure, with solar panels, battery backup, and energy-efficient lighting and appliances.

The estate also offers heat pump water heating, water-wise landscaping with borehole irrigation, and stormwater management.

These sustainability measures reduce environmental impact and long-term operating costs for homeowners.

Security features include controlled access with intercom and remote entry, perimeter walls, and CCTV monitoring with thermal off-site surveillance. Each home comes with an integrated alarm capability.

Construction is expected to take approximately 16 months, with completion anticipated in November 2027.

“Buyers increasingly prioritise security, community management standards and reduced maintenance responsibilities,” Krige explained. “Hazel Oaks provides privacy and protection without the scale or anonymity of larger estates.”

Krige added that Constantia remains one of Cape Town’s most resilient residential nodes, with sustained demand for well-designed estates.

“Hazel Oaks offers environmental sensitivity, architectural refinement, boutique exclusivity, and modern lifestyle convenience,” he said.

“It represents a rare, once-in-a-generation investment opportunity in one of Constantia’s most sought-after residential settings.”
