Cash Converters makes starting your new franchise store easy
Cash Converters provides an excellent opportunity for South Africans to start their own business while being supported by an industry-leading franchising model.
When you become a Cash Converters franchise owner, you are embracing an ecosystem that has helped entrepreneurs get their stores running seamlessly for over 30 years.
Part of this ecosystem involves finding the perfect site for your store – something Stuart Cameron, Cash Converters SA Lease Negotiation and Site Selection Manager, oversees.
Cameron explained that there are four key requirements for a Cash Converters store to thrive, and they exist in the following order:
- Visibility – It must be easy for people who live in the area to see the store as they drive past.
- Accessibility – It must be simple to visit the store for all customers – including those bringing larger items to sell.
- Parking – There must be ample space for all customers to find a parking spot.
- Footfall – It is beneficial if the store is in an area where people are already present – but it is the lowest priority requirement.
Choosing the location
Cash Converters understands the importance to the owners of having the store in their preferred location.
This can be close to where they live, or in an area that has particular meaning for them.
Cash Converters will take this information from the prospective franchisee and do research into the most suitable locations in that area.
“We recently went through a research exercise to determine where our next 50 stores should go in South Africa – and the data came back with over 100 suggestions,” said Cameron.
“This shows that there are lots of exciting opportunities to launch Cash Converters stores across South Africa.”
Cameron also highlighted the benefits that come with being a destination store.
“Other stores typically want to be as close to anchor tenants as possible, whereas we don’t need that footfall as urgently,” said Cameron.
“This means we can take sites that other retailers may not want – potentially meaning better rates.”
Cash Converters also handles the negotiation of these lease rates on your behalf by default – but it also offers you the opportunity to take control of the negotiations if you prefer.
“If franchisees would like to join us in the lease negotiation process, we can definitely accommodate that, but we would never leave it on them to do it alone,” said Cameron.
Fitting your store
Once your lease is secured, Cash Converters will help you fit out your store.
This is done through Cash Converters’ dedicated project management and shop fitting team called True North Projects.
It will draft up a plan for your shop in line with Cash Converters’ standards and requirements and will go through the plan with you.
If the franchisee has changes they would like to make, Cash Converters will work with them to find the perfect balance between what they want and what is required by Cash Converters’ standards.
After the costing is approved, it takes only six weeks to fit out the store from start to finish, at which point the store will be completely ready for operation.
