Capitec Connect data from R6 for every Bafana fan

There are moments that belong to all of us.

When the national team takes the field, the conversation shifts from offices to taxis, from group chats to living rooms, and for a few hours, the country is unified around something that matters.

But for millions of South Africans, following those moments live has always carried a hidden cost.

Data is finite, and the price of streaming a football match is not always a price that makes sense when every Rand must work hard.

Capitec Connect was built to challenge that notion.

And right now, it is doing exactly that with three discounted data bundles so that clients can follow every game without draining their data balance.

Data for every match, at a price that makes sense

Capitec Connect repriced three of our clients’ favourite bundles (valid until 19 July)

  • 500 MB Soccer Fever bundle valid for one day at R6, sized for the client who wants to catch a match live without committing to the next
  • 2GB Soccer Fever bundle over seven days at R25, enough to stream across multiple fixtures and stay in the conversation throughout the week
  • 5GB Soccer Fever bundle over thirty days at R65, which covers multiple matches and leaves data to spare for everything else that month.

These are available to any Capitec Connect client through the Capitec app or USSD, and clients can purchase any bundle at any point during the campaign to be used on any website or App.

Built on a different kind of prepaid

This is the kind of offer one can expect from the network that was built around what clients need.

Capitec Connect launched three years ago with a straightforward ambition: enabling connection for everyone, simplifying data and airtime purchases, and making the prepaid market more affordable than it was historically.

Prepaid users in South Africa have long paid more per megabyte than contract clients, on data that is scheduled to expire regardless of whether it has been used or not.

Capitec Connect, which operates as part of the Capitec ecosystem, was built to challenge that.

There is no separate app to download, no branch visit required once the SIM is active, and no contract to sign.

Clients top up via the Capitec app, via USSD, or through cash vouchers at informal markets and retail outlets across the country, and can keep their existing number when they switch to Capitec Connect.

A network that keeps growing

For a network that has grown to 1.5 million active users, with subscriber numbers rising 67% year on year, data usage tripling, and voice calls climbing sharply, that philosophy has clearly resonated.

Capitec Connect is now South Africa’s largest Mobile Virtual Network Operator, and for a growing number of those clients, the Capitec Connect SIM has become their primary SIM rather than a backup.

These match-day bundles form a part of a broader offering that has been reshaping what prepaid mobile can look like in South Africa. Capitec Connect recently became the first network to offer free calls between Capitec Connect numbers as a standard feature available to all clients, with no tiers and no conditions attached. As the network grows, so does the value of that: more users on Capitec Connect means more calls that cost nothing, which represents a meaningful reduction in what it costs to stay in touch across the duration of a month.

Where connectivity meets financial wellbeing

The value extends beyond match day.

Clients who link their Capitec Connect number to their Capitec banking profile receive 20% extra data on every recharge.

Those holding a Capitec Credit Card receive an additional 1GB of free data every month.

If airtime runs low and cash is tight, a Capitec Connect Advance allows clients to recharge instantly and pay later.

And for clients who need a device, Samsung and Apple handsets are available directly through the Capitec app with no deposit required and flexible payment terms, soon to be available at all 860 Capitec branches as well.

Clients who purchase a device through the app with their Capitec Connect number linked to their banking profile receive 5GB of free Capitec Connect data every month for twelve months, totalling 60GB worth R1,200, included as part of the transaction.

In the past year, Capitec returned R108 million in value to Capitec Connect clients through free data and Live Better Rewards, including three petabytes of free data (worth R78 million) delivered to clients as part of a service they had already chosen for its everyday affordability.

That embedded daily value is a meaningful part of what sits behind Capitec’s 90% digital adoption rate, reflecting how Capitec Connect has moved from a connectivity product into a core part of how clients engage with their finances every day.

For most South Africans, what gets spent on data and airtime is central to how money gets managed each month.

Bringing those costs down, removing call charges between Capitec Connect users, and pairing all of that with devices enables clients to stay connected while remaining financially stable.

The Bafana matches are a moment worth watching, uniting the country in proud support for our national team.

Capitec Connect is making sure the cost of watching allows no-one to miss out.

The three data bundles are available now until 19 July, through the Capitec app or USSD.

Capitec Connect SIMs are available at all 860 Capitec branches, with top-ups accessible via the app, USSD, or cash vouchers nationwide.
