South African private school network going from strength to strength

ADvTECH expects to report another solid set of results for the first six months of 2025, with strong earnings growth.

AdvTECH is a JSE-listed private education provider that operates in the education and recruitment industries in South Africa and the rest of Africa.

The company’s roots date back to 1909, when the first establishment that ADvTECH would absorb was launched.

Brian Buckham founded Advanced Systems Incorporated in 1978, which would later be called ADvTECH.

ADvTECH was listed on the JSE in 1987. In the following decade, it launched Varsity College and Crawford Schools and bought Rosebank College.

Today, ADvTECH is South Africa’s leading private education provider and a continental leader in education, training, skills development, and placement.

Its businesses include 24 brands in total and 17 education brands, encompassing over 153 education, training and recruitment sites across Africa.

It operates well-known schooling brands, including Crawford International, Trinity House and Abbotts College.

On Tuesday, 12 August 2025, ADvTECH released a trading statement for the six months ended 30 June 2025, the first half of the company’s 2025 financial year.

In this statement, the company revealed that it expects its basic headline earnings per share and its basic earnings per share to grow by between 13% and 18% compared to the first half of the 2024 financial year.

This indicates that ADvTECH is set to release another strong set of results, as the company continues to go from strength to strength.

For its 2024 financial year, ADvTECH reported revenue growth of 8% and a 13% increase in operating profit.

Its enrollment in South Africa also grew by over 10% to 45,000 students, with it having a capacity for an additional 10,000.

The company has also shown strong growth in Africa, expanding its footprint through the acquisition of Flipper International School in Ethiopia in the past financial year.

This added five schools to the company’s capacity and over 3,000 students. ADvTECH’s African business now serves over 11,500 students in three countries.

The company also has ambitious expansion plans, with its most recent move being the acquisition of another school in Kenya.

“We are pleased with enrolments for 2025 for both the schools and tertiary divisions that are tracking in line with targets and continuing their trend of good growth,” the company said.

ADvTECH’s full interim results for the six months through June 2025 will be released on Monday, 25 August 2025.
