A new Pantry by Marble location has opened at The View in Fourways, bringing an ultra-luxury grocery offering to the city.
On 1 October 2026, a new Pantry opened on the ground floor of the shopping centre, offering a full grocery experience.
Pantry by Marble forms part of the Marble Hospitality Group, which was co-founded by chef David Higgs and businessman Gary Kyriacou.
Together, Higgs and Kyriacou have opened some of the most popular fine-dining establishments in South Africa, including Marble, Zioux and Saint.
Pantry by Marble is the group’s most recent brand, which they created during the Covid-19 pandemic when the future of the restaurant industry was still up in the air.
The first location opened as a petrol forecourt in Rosebank. Unlike traditional petrol station shops, Pantry offered luxury hospitality, restaurant-quality food, freshly baked goods and a mix of unique local and imported goods.
All of this was done while still maintaining the convenience of a traditional forecourt, with the store operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Since then, the group has expanded the Pantry brand across Johannesburg and Pretoria.
Kyriacou has also told Daily Investor that the group believes they can get to 30 stores within the next few years, but he stressed that they didn’t want to compromise on quality to reach this number.
The group currently has several new stores in the pipeline, and the Pantry at The View in Fourways was its most recent opening.
Much like several of their new locations, this Pantry trades the small, convenient petrol forecourt store for a larger, full-service grocery offering.
The store features an in-store butchery, gourmet products, speciality wines, hot meals, a bespoke bakery and an ice cream parlour.
Big changes for the Pantry

The new Pantry is located at The View, a R100 million upmarket development which is positioned on a prime corner at the intersection of Cedar Road and Witkoppen Road in Johannesburg.
The development forms part of the broader repositioning of Fourways Mall, in line with the strategy of JSE-listed REIT Accelerate Property Fund, which co-owns the asset.
The shopping centre is designed to meet Fourways’ long-standing demand for high-end dining and lifestyle offerings.
The Fourways region is home to the biggest mall in the country and is close to major nodes such as Sandton, Rosebank and Midrand.
The new Pantry store marks the Marble Group’s first foray into the area. “The Pantry’s new store reflects confidence in the destination’s direction,” Kyriacou previously explained.
“Fourways represents energy, growth and community, and Pantry is built for exactly that. The quality of the space and the ease of access made this the right move for the brand, and we are proud to be part of what The View is becoming.”
Notably, this is not the only significant change the Pantry has experienced since the start of October 2026.
On 1 October 2026, they announced the appointment of Greg Solomon, a former CEO of McDonald’s South Africa, as the new chief executive of Pantry by Marble.
“Pantry is at the right stage for growth and expansion,” Solomon said. “Fast change and scale need discipline, and it has to be added without compromising the brand’s character and culture. That is what I have done for almost 30 years.”
With the first phase of building the Pantry brand now complete, the focus will be on developing the systems, infrastructure, and operational discipline needed to expand its footprint while maintaining consistent quality and experience.
“The hardest part will be saying no. There is so much demand for the brand that choosing the right locations, products, and people is a big responsibility and a privilege.”
“Our immediate priorities are strong systems, training programmes, supply chain, and standardisation across our central kitchen. Above all, the Pantry service, hospitality and quality must be delivered every day, in every location.”
