New apartments with a luxury coffee shop opening next door to a popular shopping mall

One of Johannesburg’s most popular coffee shops, Naked Coffee, will open a new location in the One Rosebank residential development, which features luxury apartments and easy access to Rosebank Mall.

One Rosebank is a residential development in Johannesburg that combines apartments, restaurants, retail and resident amenities in one of the city’s most prestigious precincts.

The development is located at 37 Cradock Avenue in Rosebank, within walking distance of Rosebank Mall, The Zone and The Firs, and about two minutes from Rosebank Gautrain Station.

Developed by the Tricolt Group in partnership with Kent Gush Properties, phase 2 is currently for sale.

Executive suites have already sold out, but one- and two-bedroom apartments are still available. Prices start from R1.52 million for a one-bedroom en-suite apartment.

One Rosebank was designed around the idea of walkable urban living, with residents able to access shops, restaurants, transport and other services without relying entirely on a car.

“Rosebank has forged a reputation as the premium destination for professionals, celebrities and designers, an inner-city precinct where everything you need is just a walk away,” Tricolt said.

Residents have access to a rooftop pool and sky deck, a gym and wellness area, co-working facilities, a boardroom and concierge services.

The development also provides 24-hour security, CCTV, biometric access control, secure basement parking and electric vehicle bays. Backup power and water are also available, while high-speed fibre is provided for residents.

The development’s location also provides access to major transport routes. The Rosebank Gautrain Station is about a two-minute walk away, while Sandton CBD is around five minutes by car.

Johannesburg CBD is about 15 minutes away, and OR Tambo International Airport is approximately 25 minutes away by car.

One Rosebank brings a new restaurant and coffee shop

One Rosebank will give residents direct access to Rosebank retail, as well as restaurants and cafés within the building. One of these is Épicure at One, a Pan-African restaurant on the ground floor.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night tapas and is part of the development’s residential offering.

The development will also feature its own Naked Coffee, a popular brand which is widely considered one of the best coffee shops in the city.

Naked Coffee was founded in 2015 by Shaun Els and Victor Barbosa and initially operated from a small coffee hutch in Melrose Arch before expanding into Morningside Shopping Centre.

By 2017, the founders had expanded the concept into Naked Kitchen & Coffee Bar, adding a food offering to its coffee business.

The Morningside location focused on fresh produce, home-style cooking and takeaway food, alongside coffee made from Naked Coffee’s own blend.

“A love for coffee, paired with an acute attention to quality, was the driving force that led us to begin this journey, which drove us to open Naked Coffee in 2015,” Barbosa told Coffee Magazine in 2017.

The founders also wanted to ensure their food offerings featured fresh, seasonal ingredients.

“Our vision is to create a brand of excellence that can stand out in any city across the globe. Johannesburg is just the beginning,” Barbosa said.

Naked Coffee has since grown its footprint to multiple stores across Johannesburg, as well as one location in Sea Point, Cape Town.
