Warren Buffett’s 31 biggest holdings revealed
The biggest holdings in Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway portfolio are Apple, Bank of America, Coca Cola, Chevron, and American Express.
Buffett is the world’s best-known and most respected value investor – a reputation he earned through an exceptional long-term performance.
Between 1965 to 2021, shares in his company, Berkshire Hathaway have returned a compound annual return of 20.1%.
Buffett is known for investing in companies for the long term. His oldest holding, Coca Cola, has been in the portfolio for 34 years.
Berkshire earns a whopping 54% dividend yield on its original cost basis for its Coca Cola stock.
Buffett is also known for taking concentrated positions in his high conviction stocks. Berkshire’s top 5 holdings account for nearly 75% of the portfolio, with Apple making up more than 40%.
In the past quarter, Berkshire increased its positions in Apple, Chevron, Activision Blizzard, Paramount Global, Celanese Corp, McKesson Corp, Ally Financial, and Markel Corp.
It has also recently built a significant stake in Occidental Petroleum, which now makes up 3.1% of the portfolio. It excludes $10 billion in preferred stock that Berkshire also holds.
They have recently gotten permission from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to increase Berkshire’s stake in Occidental Petroleum from 20.2% to as much as 50%.
Berkshire decreased its holdings in US Bancorp, Kroger, and General Motors. It more than halved its stake in Store Capital and completely sold out of Verizon and Royalty Pharma.
It is important to note that Buffett is not responsible for all the investment decisions made by Berkshire.
Many decisions are influenced by his vice-chair, Charlie Munger, as well as their investing lieutenants, Todd Combs, and Ted Weschler.
