New luxury development in Cape Town getting ready to open its doors

A new luxury development in Cape Town, The Cole, is set to open its doors in December, with prices starting from R10,950 per night.

The development, located on Church Street in Sea Point, Cape Town, is now officially complete, with all 65 apartments having been handed over to their new owners.

Located seven minutes from the V&A Waterfront, the Kove Collection’s new hotel, The Cole, is set to open in December 2025.

The Cole offers views of the Atlantic Ocean and surrounding mountains, with access to top oceanfront restaurants and major city landmarks.

“Designed for the international traveller and the local connoisseur of luxury, this vibrant social hub will blend modern luxury with the distinctive character that defines every Kove Collection property,” said Kove Collection founder and MD Paul Kovensky.

As part of the Kove Collection, known for its dining, hospitality, and luxury lifestyle projects, the hotel offers a refined boutique experience.

Kove Collection’s portfolio comprises restaurants, such as The Nines, Blanko, and Paranga, as well as five-star boutique hotels.

Its first hotel, The Alphen, is an old-world provincial heritage site in Constantia, while its other hotel, The Marly in Camps Bay, offers a modern, ocean-side experience. Both hotels feature their own spas, The Marly Spa and The Alphen Spa.

The Cole is the third and most recent addition to the Kove Collection’s boutique hotel portfolio, and offers a range of luxury rooms and amenities.

The hotel provides a variety of facilities, including 60 suites, a rooftop pool, a wellness centre, a fitness centre, a rooftop restaurant, a lobby cocktail bar, 24-hour room service, and transfer services on request.

Guests can also enjoy nearby attractions such as Table Mountain National Park, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, local beaches, and the V&A Waterfront.

The wellness centre offers bespoke treatments, a sauna, a cold plunge pool, and advanced skin therapies designed to promote holistic well-being. Accommodation includes several room types, offering luxury amenities, including:

  • Nespresso coffee machine
  • Marshall music speaker
  • Kove Collection’s signature “Echo” Body amenities
  • Smart TV
  • Complimentary Wifi
  • Complimentary refreshment station
  • International plug points
  • King-size, extra-length beds with soft, luxurious linens
  • Room safes
  • Air conditioning
  • Breakfast

Prices start from R10,950 per night for a classic sea-facing room, and go up to over R17,950 per night for a sea-facing suite.

The sea-facing suites feature a separate dressing room, an expansive bedroom and lounge area, and a luxurious bathroom with both a deep soaking bath and rain shower.

Guests staying in these rooms also have access to their own private balcony where they can enjoy uninterrupted ocean views.

Designing The Cole

The Cole was designed by famed South African architect Robert Silke, a member of the world’s second-oldest profession and ranked as South Africa’s oldest young architect.

His firm, Robert Silke & Partners, is known for its sculpturally curvaceous buildings that transcend the ascetic functionalism of the developer norm. The design style is modern, sculptural, and simultaneously futuristic and nostalgic.

The Cole’s design draws inspiration from Tropical Mid-Century Modernism, incorporating tiramisu-crème tones, champagne-bronze accents, and warm textures that reflect the character of Sea Point.

“The overall design celebrates refined elegance with an adventurous spirit, perfectly capturing the vibrancy and charm of Sea Point,” said The Cole’s in-house design team.

“Since sea-facing land has become so rare, The Cole may well prove to be one of the Atlantic Seaboard’s last great beachfront buildings,” Silke said.

The Cole is the latest in a long line of great sea-front towers, stretching all the way from Mouille Point in the east to Bantry Bay in the West.

“The brief was to realise the location’s highest possible potential as a prime sea-facing property,” he said, adding that the hotel is a complete product of its environment, and is built to ensure it makes the most of its prime location.

“The Cole’s facade is organic, alive and dynamic. The Cole is greedy for the sun and sea, and literally stretches itself out, even beyond the boundaries of its ocean-front site, and cranks itself to a westward bearing of 45°.”

All of these design choices were meant to ensure that The Cole achieves unbroken sea views for its large and luxurious guest rooms.
