The Scoin Shop launches flagship store at Brooklyn Mall – Cutting-edge retail experience for gold coin investors
The Scoin Shop, the leading gold coin exchange in South Africa, has launched a new flagship store in Brooklyn Mall, Pretoria.
The stunning store was designed in partnership with architecture and design experts Urban Flux Studios and Hubo Studio.
Thanks to this creative team’s thorough understanding of the brief, The Scoin Shop has been able to represent its core brand and intrinsic values through the look and feel of its new retail space.
“Our goal was to craft a retail environment that bridges past, present, and future,” said Rael Demby, CEO of The South African Gold Coin Exchange and The Scoin Shop.
“Every element was carefully considered to highlight gold’s intrinsic value while ensuring a premium customer experience.”
Behind the design
The new Brooklyn Mall store was designed using inspiration from South Africa’s extensive gold mining history.
The store’s ceiling and floor are both designed using the traditional imagery of a South African gold mine, which delivers a visually striking experience for shoppers.
These design elements also highlight the state-of-the-art display cases placed strategically in the store, which make each coin a centrepiece with a clear and significant explanation of its historical and investment significance.
Included in these display cases are coins minted in France, Canada, the UK, and South Africa – with details on the mints from each region shared.
“Our display system is part retail, part museum – an experience unlike any other,” said Demby.
When clients are interested in making a specific purchase, several private rooms are available for discussions and negotiations with professional brokers.
High-value transactions take place in “The Vault” – a secure and intimate setting that protects both the buyer and the gold coins being bought and sold.
“We were able to turn an awkwardly shaped space into a layout that allows interactive iterations, harnessing playfulness, which is fundamental to the Scoin brand,” said Asher Marcus, founder and lead designer at Hubo Studio.
