How the Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust uses Bolt Business to provide students with safe transport
The Cyril Ramaphosa Education Trust (CRET) helps deserving and disadvantaged students attend university through financial aid and mentorship.
As part of its support provisions, CRET gives students access to transport to ensure they attend annual events, like work-integrated programmes and holiday work.
CRET therefore needs reliable, safe, and convenient transport to meet the needs of its students – and Bolt Business delivers the best solution.
We detail how Bolt Business ensures the safe transport of CRET students, below.
The move to Bolt Business
CRET supports around 85 students annually, helping these young people access further education and training across South Africa.
As part of their involvement with CRET, the students require ad-hoc transport to and from events. Many CRET staff members also require the same type of transport.
Historically, organising transport for these students and staff members had been difficult – particularly when using multiple services to pick up and drop off students and staff who live and study in different suburbs and regions.
The complexity of managing this transport situation often resulted in long waiting times for all involved.
CRET also faced ambiguous ride costs and the frequent need for its learners to use cash payments – which is a significant security concern.
To address these challenges, CRET looked for an all-encompassing transport solution which matched its needs. Bolt Business emerged as the clear winner.
“CRET’s partnership with Bolt Business has made it easier to transport staff and students,” said CRET.
It attributed this to Bolt Business’s cashless, convenient, and safe systems that allow CRET to book rides ahead of time and generate coupons for its staff and students to use.
A huge benefit of these coupons is that CRET no longer needs to advance payments or provide reimbursements to students and staff, optimising its admin processes.
CRET administrators can also check the progress of trips to ensure all rides with Bolt Business arrive safely at their destination, and on time.
Thanks to the broad reach of the Bolt service, it can be used to serve students across the country, too.
This is as opposed to working with several providers in different provinces and regions, as was the case previously.
“Since partnering with Bolt, we have streamlined our process for managing student transportation,” said CRET.
CRET added that it would definitely recommend the Bolt Business service to other organisations, specifically for the efficiency and safety benefits.
