How Bolt keeps its riders safe
Bolt recently held a rider safety event at the Auckland Park Campus Square and invited customers to learn more about the features Bolt offers to protect them each time they order a ride.
“Safety is at the core of our service and this event was an excellent opportunity to showcase our robust safety features,” said Weyinmi Aghadiuno, Acting Head of Regulatory and Policy Africa at Bolt.
Bolt facilitated this through an in-person event, as it believes face-to-face discussions are important at a time when many businesses are relying on AI to manage customer concerns.
It said an “AI-first” approach is impersonal and does not build the necessary trust riders require to use a service like Bolt.
“The event was a chance for us to engage directly with our riders, addressing their questions and enhancing their confidence in using Bolt,” said Aghadiuno.
We detail the key insights shared with riders at the recent Bolt event, below.
Rider safety
Bolt explained to attendees that it embraces the latest technologies to keep its riders safe and comfortable on every trip.
This ranges from simple features like 24/7 customer support and a robust driver rating system, to features like its woman-only ride option – which allows female riders to avoid trips with male drivers if this makes them uncomfortable.
To ensure Peace of mind for every ride, Bolt has the below innovative features to ensure riders always feel safe and comfortable while riding with Bolt.
This includes:
- Driving shift limits – Drivers are limited in the number of consecutive hours they can drive, ensuring they get sufficient rest and stay alert when behind the wheel.
- Identity verification – Drivers submit selfies as part of the identity verification process – both during registration and regularly after the fact.
- Vehicle details – The rider receives the driver’s vehicle details, including its make, model, and registration number, to ensure they get into the right vehicle.
Riders who feel unsafe while driving can also use the Bolt app’s Share Ride Details and Emergency Assist features.
The Share Ride Details feature makes it easy for riders to send information about their trip to family and friends, while the Emergency Assist feature immediately notifies Bolt’s welfare team if a rider feels compromised – who will instantly call you to check if you are safe.
In addition to these features, Bolt tracks and records all trip details to ensure drivers abide by all necessary rules and expectations.
You can therefore rest assured that your next Bolt ride will be safe and comfortable.
