Good news for FNB and RMB clients who shop at Woolworths

FNB and RMB have expanded the eBucks Rewards programme to include eligible purchases at Woolworths stores across South Africa.

This is exclusive to private banking clients who purchase goods at Woolworths when paying with a qualifying FNB or RMB Private Bank Virtual Card.

These clients will be able to earn eBucks at Woolworths from 1 October, with FNB saying this brings necessary diversity to the rewards offering.

“It responds directly to how our private clients live, with a significant portion of them already spending at Woolworths,” FNB said.

The expansion of eBucks adds to the bank’s broader partnerships with Pick n Pay and Boxer, which are also available to non-private-banking clients.

FNB eBucks CEO Pieter Woodhatch told Daily Investor earlier this year that the partnership with Boxer is particularly exciting as it enables the bank to enter new market segments.

“I think this is where the big focus is, to make sure we are able to meet every client in the context they’re in and give them value,” Woodhatch said.

FNB said Woolworths adds a significant lifestyle benefit to the value already available to its private banking clients.

The expansion includes purchases made in Woolworths’ food, fashion, beauty, and home segments.

“Woolworths strengthens our offering by giving qualifying clients another practical way to earn rewards on purchases that already form part of their monthly spend,” FNB Private Banking CEO Sizwe Nxedlana said.

To maximise value for clients, FNB said eligible spend at participating Woolworths stores, Woolworths Food, Woolworths Online, and Woolworths Dash is combined over the month.

This means that qualifying purchases contribute to the same monthly Woolworths spend amount, with rewards determined by the client’s eBucks Reward Level.

Depending on their banking proposition and eligibility, qualifying clients can earn up to eB6 000 or eB10 000 in eBucks each month on eligible Woolworths spend, equivalent to R600 or R1,000.

A potential catch is that these eligible Woolworths purchases must be made using a qualifying FNB or RMB Private Bank Virtual Card.

Physical card payments do not count towards the Woolworths earn benefit.

Woodhatch previously explained that eBucks does this to incentivise digitally safer behaviour among its clients.
