End of an era for South African hospitality giant with 16 resorts, hotels, lodges, and retreats

Forever Resorts has been acquired by Benus Trade and Invest, marking a new chapter for the South African hospitality giant.

While it will continue to operate under the same name, Forever Resorts said this acquisition marks an exciting new chapter for the business.

Benus Trade and Invest is an investment company associated with Community Investment Holdings (CIH), a South African investment group.

CIH is a 100% black-owned, women-led company with a group turnover of R20 billion. Some of its main holdings include Afrocentric (Medscheme), Temp Coal, and Jasco Electronics.

It was founded in 1995 by Professor Anna Mokgokong and Joe Madungandaba.

On Tuesday, 15 September, Forever Resorts announced that it has been acquired by Benus Trade and Invest, marking a significant milestone in the company’s evolution.

The company said the deal will combine Forever Resorts’ longstanding heritage and presence in the market with the strength and local insight of a significant South African partner.

“Together, the partnership brings a shared understanding of the country’s diverse landscape, communities, and consumers, positioning the brand perfectly for its next phase of growth,” it said.

Forever Resorts operates 16 resorts, hotels, lodges, and retreats in South Africa, including locations in Warmbaths, Gariep, Leopard’s Trail, Loskopdam, Phalaborwa Safari Park, and Plettenberg.

It also operates conference centres, wedding and other function venues, and leisure facilities such as water parks and spa experiences.

Despite the new ownership, Forever Resorts said it would continue operating under its well-known flagship brand.

This, the group said, will ensure that all existing resorts, hotels, and guest offerings remain a core part of its ongoing operations.

Forever Resorts Managing Director Eugene van Jaarsveldt said the deal presents opportunities for the group’s continued strategic growth and development.

“We are very excited about this next chapter of Forever Resorts, and look forward to working closely with our new ownership as we continue to build on the strength and potential of this remarkable business,” he said.

“Forever Resorts has been part of the South African hospitality landscape for several decades.”

Going forward, he said the group will continue to build on its reputation while exploring new opportunities for growth.
