New website promotes well-known billionaire becoming South Africa’s next president
A new PM27 Campaign website has been launched to support billionaire Patrice Motsepe as the ANC and South Africa’s next president.
Motsepe is one of South Africa’s richest and most respected businessmen, having built a large business empire which started in the mining industry.
He founded African Rainbow Minerals, a diversified mining and minerals company with operations primarily in South Africa.
He is also behind African Rainbow Capital (ARC) and Ubuntu-Botho Investments, which have diverse investment portfolios.
These include Sanlam, TymeBank, Alexander Forbes, Rain, Val de Vie, and African Rainbow Energy and Power (AREP).
Motsepe also has a deep love of sport. He acquired ownership of the football club Mamelodi Sundowns in 2003 and holds a 37% stake in the Blue Bulls.
On 12 March 2021, he was elected as the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). He has been praised for his work at the organisation.
His Motsepe Foundation, founded with his wife, Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe, focuses on health, education, and poverty alleviation.
In 2013, he became the first African to join The Giving Pledge, committing to donate at least half of his wealth to philanthropic causes.
Motsepe ranks among the richest people in South Africa on the latest Forbes billionaire list, with a net worth well above $3 billion.
Political analyst Dr Frans Cronje said billionaire Patrice Motsepe is preparing to run for the ANC leadership and eventually the presidency of South Africa.
This aligns with other information, which includes videos of PM27 campaign T-shirts being printed and promotional material distributed around this campaign.
PM27 website launched

A new PM27 Campaign website has been launched to support Motsepe as the next ANC president, which should also position him to lead South Africa.
The website states that Motsepe is the most credible, unifying, and visionary leader to guide the African National Congress (ANC) and South Africa.
The campaign calls on all South Africans to rally behind a leader who embodies unity, progress, and ethical governance.
It seeks to unite the ANC and the nation behind a shared vision of ethical leadership, national renewal, and prosperity.
This, it said, would be achieved by fostering respectful, constructive dialogue and emphasizing diversity, inclusion, and integrity.
It added that the campaign promoting Motsepe as ANC president places anti-corruption and nation-building at its core.
“Patrice Motsepe’s proven track record and unwavering commitment to ethical leadership make him the only credible choice,” the website states.
It added that Motsepe becoming president will restore trust, inspire hope, and lead South Africa toward a brighter future.
“South Africa stands at a crossroads. For over a decade, corruption and state capture have cost the country an estimated R1.5 trillion,” it said.
This corruption and state capture have eroded public trust and weakened the very institutions meant to serve the people.
Unemployment remains a persistent threat to social stability, with over 32% of South Africans and more than 45% of the youth struggling to find work.
Social cohesion is also under strain, with over 60% of citizens reporting that the nation feels more divided than united.
“The absence of ethical leadership and constructive dialogue has left many disillusioned and searching for hope,” it said.
It said the PM27 campaign harnesses South Africa’s spirit of resilience and innovation, calling on all South Africans to unite behind Motsepe.
Patrice Motsepe denies plans to run for president

Motsepe has consistently denied plans to run for ANC president, saying he does not have to be president to contribute to South Africa.
“A few years ago, the editors of the major newspapers asked me whether I was going to get involved in politics,” he said.
“My answer was always that I don’t have to get into politics to make a contribution to this country and to fulfil my duty to the people.”
Speaking at the results announcement of his company, African Rainbow Minerals, he dismissed rumours of betrayals and the like. “That is not correct,” he said.
“I will continue to, as I have in the past, work with all political parties across the board,” he said.
He also emphasised his commitment to his family foundation and his role as the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
