New FNB Connect CEO

FNB confirmed today that Sashin Sookroo has been appointed as the new CEO of FNB Connect, the bank’s mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).

“With over 14 years of dedicated service to FNB, he has been instrumental in driving innovation across different business areas, including the EFT Product House and Core Banking,” the bank said.

CEO of FNB’s Personal Segment Lytania Johnson said, “Sashin’s comprehensive experience in financial services, technology, and payments, coupled with his deep understanding of the FNB culture, positions him to lead FNB Connect.”

Prior to this appointment, Sookroo was FNB’s Head of Retail Payments and has worked at the bank since 2009. His roles at FNB have included positions in retail banking and the head of product, business intelligence and business analysis in the bank’s Payments segment.

“His appointment is in line with our efforts to enable better access to telecommunications and ICT services through our trusted digital platform,” said Johnson.

Sookroo will replace Bradwin Roper, who took the position of chief financial services officer at MTN South Africa in May of this year.

FNB Connect provides customers with various services, such as voice and data plans, smart devices, and prepaid vouchers for airtime, electricity, entertainment, streaming, and gaming.

It also uses FNB’s platform to allow customers to manage their SIMs, data, and voice plans.
