The highest-paying jobs in South Africa – with one paying R125,000 per month
Salaries in South Africa vary greatly depending on the industry and job role, with some employees earning over R100,000 a month while others earn less than R15,000.
This was revealed in the Pnet Job Market Trends Report for January 2026, which looked at the average cost to company (CT) for popular job roles in South Africa.
The Pnet Job Market Trends Report is a monthly report which provides insights into recruitment and employment trends in the South African market.
Developed to give local businesses a useful summary of the monthly trends shaping the recruitment market, the report also unpacks sector-specific insights – from both an employer and candidate perspective.
Recruiters can use our data to develop their recruitment strategies and to constructively guide and advise their HR talent-management solutions.
Pnet’s latest report, the 2026 Salary Guide, provides up-to-date salary information for over 100 job roles across 11 different job sectors.
It is based on actual salary offerings from thousands of vacancies posted across our job sites. The salary ranges included represent national averages for each job role, derived from job advert data posted over the past 12 months.
It is important to note, however, that many important metrics were not included in the Salary Guide. This includes years of experience, region, and specific skill sets – factors which can greatly influence an employee’s remuneration package.
Since this data is also sourced from Pnet’s hiring platform, the average CTC excludes employers who recruit through other sources, such as company websites, LinkedIn, or private recruiters.
Again, companies that utilise these alternative recruitment methods may offer a much higher or lower salary package, which would skew the averages.
Nevertheless, Pnet’s insights still offer a useful indicator for understanding market-related salary expectations in 2026. The table below shows the 15 popular job roles with the highest monthly CTC, according to Pnet:
