High-end restaurant opens in South Africa’s richest city
A new restaurant, La Salud, has officially opened in Ann Crescent in Sandton, Johannesburg, promising diners a global dining experience.
Envisioned as a space where flavours from around the world meet rustic charm, La Salud draws on the founders’ extensive travels and culinary discoveries.
The restaurant aims to celebrate culture, connection and curiosity, expressed through both its food and its design.
Earthy tones, vintage accents, woven rugs, linen drapes and communal seating create an inviting atmosphere that encourages guests to slow down, explore and connect.
La Salud has an ever-evolving menu, which consists of dishes influenced by kitchens from around the world.
Diners can order from a diverse selection of dishes, from charcoal-grilled kababs and tender lamb chops to fresh tacos, hearty burgers, wood-fired pizzas, crisp salads and comforting seafood.
Signature dishes include Peri Peri Sea Prawns, Harissa Braised Lamb Pizza, Truffle Ravioli, Cajun Butter Salmon, Murgh Tikka Masala, and Charcoal Lamb Galouti.
Other signature options include the Lamb Birria Tacos and the impressive Chimichurri Tomahawk, which bring both depth and personality to the menu.
The bar menu is crafted to match the food’s global adventure with artisanal cocktails, curated craft beers, and wines from organic vineyards.
Signature cocktails feature botanical infusions, exotic spices, edible flowers, and hand-smoked elements, served in unique, visually stunning glassware.
For those preferring non-alcoholic options, the mocktails and herbal infusions are just as inventive and thoughtfully prepared.
“La Salud was created from the simple dream of bringing the world’s kitchens together on one plate,” the restaurant’s founder, Narasimha Reddy Kala, said.
“Every dish reflects a memory or a cultural experience we’ve cherished during our travels. We invite guests to slow down, explore, and connect over food that has heart and a story.”
According to Kala, a meal at La Salud is a guest’s passport to a global gastronomic journey, all without leaving Sandton.
Salud goes global

“Our aim is to awaken all the senses,” said La Salud head chef Naresh Kumar. “From the moment you step into the warm, open layout, to the presentation of a dish, or the theatre of a smoked cocktail, every detail is intentional.”
“We source the freshest ingredients to deliver rich, bold flavours and beautiful presentation that captures the essence of global street food elevated to a gourmet level.”
The idea for the restaurant was born in Goa, India, where the group operates Salud Club & Lounge, and has been re-imagined for South Africa.
A kitchen and lounge, the Goa location combines food, music, and design. It also features a tropical, lively ambience, with some events featuring scenic cliffside views or beachfront locations.
It hosts a variety of events, from high-energy DJ sets and themed nights to music festivals like the Sandunes Beach Fest.
Goa Salud’s menu offers items like pineapple rice, mezze platters, mango salsa nachos, peri peri king prawns and flatbread.
