A pair of school shoes for 99c

FNB’s eBucks rewards programme has announced a new partnership with PEP to offer customers 155,000 vouchers for Student Prince school shoes for 99 cents at any of the retailers stores.

Customers can also opt to get R129 off any pair of school shoes with a higher price point, such as Toughees leather school shoes.

Any FNB client with an Easy debit card (PAYU and Bundle) and an Aspire debit, Premier, Private Clients, or Private Wealth debit, credit, or Fusion card can use this offer by swiping a minimum of R300 from 26 December 2024.

The limited 155,000 vouchers are available on a first-come, first-served basis only to qualifying FNB clients who spend more than R300 excluding airtime and data, the bank said.

FNB customers need to use their FNB card and make purchases at any PEP store from 26 December 2024 until the end of January 2025 or while voucher stocks last.

The use of the voucher can be on Student Prince synthetic school shoes purchased at PEP and the customer will pay only 99 cents. Only one pair of shoes is allowed per customer per transaction.

FNB has been expanding its lifestyle partner ecosystem in recent months to make its eBucks rewards programme more valuable to clients and easier to use.

The new partnership with PEP follows on from eBucks’ offering with Pick n Pay, launched in September, which offered qualifying FNB clients a loaf of bread for 99 cents.

FNB Easy PAYU and Easy Bundle customers can purchase up to four loaves of bread a month at 99c per loaf.

To qualify, FNB Easy PAYU and Easy Bundle customers must swipe their cards for any amount when purchasing goods at Pick n Pay stores.

On Wednesday, FNB and Pick n Pay extended their partnership to appeal to the high-end of the South African market.

Starting 1 November 2024, FNB Private Clients and eBucks members from RMB Private Bank can earn up to 30% of their spending back in eBucks using Pick n Pay’s asap!

Those who prefer to use brick-and-mortar stores will also benefit. In-store purchases at Pick n Pay will yield up to 20% back in eBucks. Pick n Pay said FNB Easy customers also receive up to R100 in vouchers through the new partnership.

Pick n Pay Clothing has been included in the rewards program. Customers on the Aspire plan can earn up to R150 back in eBucks.

Premier, Private Clients, Private Wealth, and RMB Private Bank members will receive up to 20% back on clothing purchases.

“We are excited to collaborate with PEP to offer this valuable back-to-school benefit to our customers, which aims to make it easier for them to stretch their rands further and make the start of the year a little easier,” Pieter Woodhatch, FNB eBucks Rewards CEO said.

Woodhatch said the bank has noticed many of its clients coming under increased pressure during challenging economic times, with the price of basic necessities rising significantly in the past few years.

On top of basic household costs such as food and transportation, FNB has noted that school uniform supplies have a sizeable impact on our customers’ household budgets.

“Through this 99c school shoes voucher, we aim to help supplement the cost of school shoes that will then ease the overall cost of uniform spend for families.”

Woodhatch said over seven million South Africans currently use FNB’s eBucks programme to purchase daily and monthly necessities, alleviating financial pressure.

PEP’s Head of Marketing, Angela Beukes, said the retailer is proud to be part of the 99c school shoes initiative.
