99c for a loaf of bread and 30% back in eBucks

FNB and Pick n Pay have extended their partnership to offer their clients lower prices and rewards on essentials, groceries, and clothing.

Last month, FNB eBucks and Pick n Pay announced a partnership to offer qualifying FNB customers a loaf of bread every week for 99c.

FNB Easy PAYU and Easy Bundle customers can purchase up to four loaves of bread monthly at Pick n Pay at 99c per loaf.

To qualify, FNB customers must swipe their cards for any amount when purchasing goods at Pick n Pay stores.

Pick n Pay CEO Sean Summers said they saw the value and role loyalty programmes, like their Smart Shopper programme, play in helping customers stretch their budgets.

“Our Smart Shoppers could even use their points to pay for their 99c loaf of weekly bread vouchers from FNB eBucks,” he said.

On Wednesday, FNB and Pick n Pay extended their partnership to appeal to the high-end of the South African market.

Starting 1 November 2024, FNB Private Clients and eBucks members from RMB Private Bank can earn up to 30% of their spending back in eBucks using Pick n Pay’s asap!

Those who prefer to use brick-and-mortar stores will also benefit. In-store purchases at Pick n Pay will yield up to 20% back in eBucks.

Pick n Pay said FNB Easy customers also receive up to R100 in vouchers through the new partnership.

Pick n Pay Clothing has been included in the rewards program. Customers on the Aspire plan can earn up to R150 back in eBucks.

Premier, Private Clients, Private Wealth, and RMB Private Bank members will receive up to 20% back on clothing purchases.

Starting Friday, all FNB cardholders enrolled in eBucks will also be able to spend their eBucks at Pick n Pay locations.

FNB Private Segment CEO Sizwe Nxedlana said the partnership represents the next step in their journey to help South Africans get more value.

Summers also hailed the partnership as significant. “We know how important tangible rewards are as consumers come under financial pressure,” he said.

“We are already seeing strong redemption rates from the 99c bread promotion, and we’re thrilled to extend more rewards to eBucks’ six million active customer base.”
