Checkers launches unlimited free Sixty60 deliveries for R99

Checkers has launched Xtra Savings Plus – a R99 monthly subscription service offering unlimited free Sixty60 grocery deliveries, personalised offers, and an additional in-store discount.

Checkers Sixty60 was launched in select locations in Sandton, Johannesburg, and Cape Town in November 2019.

The main value proposition – order groceries in 60 seconds and have them delivered in 60 minutes for R35 – made it South Africa’s fastest and cheapest on-demand grocery service.

Neil Schreuder, chief of strategy and innovation at Shoprite, said Sixty60 order volumes have skyrocketed since the lockdown started.

“Customers love shopping from their couch and tracking the items in real-time as they are picked in-store and delivered,” he said.

Four years later, Sixty60 is South Africa’s most popular grocery app, supported by a national footprint available in 466 locations.

Shoprite Holding’s results for the 52 weeks ended 2 July 2023 revealed Checkers Sixty60 increased sales by 81.5% over the last year.

To further enhance the attractiveness of Sixty60, Checkers has now launched a subscription service called Xtra Savings Plus, with unlimited deliveries.

After a successful beta trial with customers, the subscription offer is now being made available to all its consumers.

Xtra Savings Plus combines the benefits of the Xtra Savings rewards programme with Sixty60’s convenience.

Customers can activate this offering on Sixty60 to experience exclusive benefits such as:

• Unlimited free Sixty60 deliveries with a minimum spend of R350.
• Save 10% extra in-store with a maximum of R200 savings once per month.
• Double the personalised offers in-app and in-store.
