The Senior Village at Steyn City sets a new benchmark for senior living in South Africa, with ultra-luxury accommodation and world-class facilities.
Steyn City is a 2,000-acre luxury residential estate in Johannesburg. It is a legacy project envisioned by the late South African insurance magnate Douw Steyn.
The estate, opened in 2015, features an 18-hole Nicklaus Design championship golf course, served by the Steyn City Clubhouse, a pro shop, and a gym.
It has a 300-meter lagoon for swimming and water sports, a 45-kilometre floodlit promenade for running, and a 50km mountain bike trail.
The on-site Steyn City School covers grades 000 through Matric, while Capital Park offers AAA-grade office spaces.
The estate features a helistop for quick travel and a luxury boutique apartment hotel managed by Saxon.
It is one of the most exclusive residential estates in South Africa. A one-bedroom apartment starts at R2.2 million, and high-end houses sell for R60 million.
Steyn City has been recognised by New World Wealth as one of the top ten lifestyle estates in the world.
In May 2025, Steyn City officially announced the Senior Village, located within the flagship apartment development, City Centre.
The City Centre is an entirely pedestrianised zone, designed as a series of villages, each clustered around a treed piazza.
Senior Village offers 100 spacious apartment homes in one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom layouts, with a mix of single- and double-storey options.
Larger homes include space for a home office or hobby room, and selected double-storey homes include a private lift.

The village offers world-class amenities, like the Hydro, Sky Bar and Lounge, and Paputzis Restaurant.
The Health and Fitness Centre, operated by Pack Life Wellness, features a heated, wheelchair-accessible swimming pool.
It also offers a sauna and a steam room, and includes a studio hosting classes in mat pilates, yoga, strength, and low-impact cardio.
Daily life is simplified with convenient services such as laundry, PostNet, Sorbet salon, Clicks, and a car wash.
Healthcare provider Totalcare, specialists in senior living facilities, has been appointed to manage the Frail Care Centre and the Lifestyle Centre.
The apartment homes are remarkable for their size, with wide passages and high ceilings, and all bedrooms are large enough to accommodate a king-size bed.
Climate control and double-glazed windows are standard throughout all the apartments at the Senior Village at Steyn City. All homes have piped gas heating.
In line with Steyn City’s pedestrianised environment, vehicles are parked underground, and residents can access their homes via a lift core.
Senior Village at Steyn City prices start at R1.9 million for a 1-bedroom single-storey apartment of 70 square metres.
It offers numerous larger options, all the way to a 4-bedroom double-storey home priced at R14.15 million.
