Top 10 shares owned by superinvestors
The most popular stocks among super investors in the fourth quarter of 2023 were Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, and Visa.
This was revealed by Dataroma, which tracks Form 13F filings from superinvestors with the Securities and Exchange Commission in the United States.
Institutional investment managers with $100 million or more in assets under management must file quarterly Form 13F reports.
These reports must disclose their equity holdings, giving retail investors a glimpse into where superinvestors invest their money.
Dataroma tracks top investors, including Warren Buffet, Bill Ackman, Carl Icahn, Seth Klarman, and Michael Burry.
The latest Form 13F filings revealed that mega-cap technology stocks remain the most popular shares among this select group of investors.
This is despite many superinvestors cutting their stakes in these companies.
Apple is a significant omission from this list, considering its position as the leading technology stock for the past few years.
Its reign as the world’s most valuable company was recently ended by Microsoft, which is riding the wave of artificial intelligence-related investment through its ownership stake in OpenAI.
Google-owner Alphabet was the most popular stock, with prominent investors such as Bill Ackman, Chase Coleman, and Michael Burry holding significant stakes.
Microsoft ranked second and was backed by the Gates Foundation, Coleman, and Daniel Loeb. The company has enjoyed tremendous support due to its involvement with the AI company OpenAI, which owns ChatGPT.
Facebook-owned Meta ranked third and was also backed by Coleman, Loeb, and David Tepper.
