He founded Discovery in 1992 with the simple aim of making people healthier and enhancing their lives.

Under his leadership, Discovery has evolved into a diversified and multinational financial services group with operations across 40 countries and over 30 million members worldwide.

This makes Discovery a widely acknowledged global leader in wellness and health and life insurance.

Gore has won many awards as Discovery CEO, including being named Ernst and Young’s Best Entrepreneur in 1998, South Africa’s leading CEO in 2004, and the Sunday Times’ Business Leader of the Year in 2010.

He also received Investec’s award for considerable contribution in a career or profession in 2010, the Manex Award from the University of Witwatersrand Business School in 2013, and the Frost & Sullivan Visionary Innovation Leadership Award for Africa in 2017.

The University of Witwatersrand – where he completed his Bachelor of Applied Science – awarded Gore an Honorary Doctorate in Economics in recognition of his achievements and contributions to society.
