Investec Private Bank card system down

Investec Private Bank, a unit of Investec, said the Visa card service operated by its South Africa business is down. 

Card payments on Friday were being declined. 

“We’re experiencing technical issues with card payments,” the bank said in a note to clients. 

The company didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

“There was an overnight upgrade to the Visa payments system which affected our ability to process card payments,” it has since said in a social media post.

“We alerted our clients about the matter. We apologised to affected clients for the interruption to our service and are pleased to report that the system is back online.”
