Discovery Health CEO set to lead DNI Group

Ryan Noach

Outgoing Discovery Health CEO Ryan Noach will take over as the chief executive for the DNI Group from 1 March 2024.

Discovery announced Noach’s resignation on 12 October and said he would leave his role on 31 December 2023.

Noach spent 15 years at Discovery and has served as the Discovery Health CEO since 2020.

The company said he is leaving to pursue an entrepreneurial opportunity outside the healthcare and financial services sectors.

However, Noach will be a non-executive director on the Discovery Health Board from 1 January 2024. Discovery Health’s deputy CEO, Ronals Whelan, will take over as CEO.

Noach will join DNI as chief executive in March next year. DNI is an investment company focused on B2B distribution and technology services.

DNI has many notable shareholders, including Aspen Pharmacare founder Stephen Saad (10%), Peter Gain (8%), mining magnate Mike Teke (5%), and the Ellerines family (2%).

The Mineworker’s Investment Company owns 25% of DNI, Sabvest Capital owns 20%, and Rand Merchant Bank 4%.

The company generates almost R10 billion in revenue, employs over 1,000 people and operates in 29 countries.

DNI said Noach brings a wealth of experience and a stellar reputation to the company, “having served as a key leader at one of the largest and most successful corporations in the country in Discovery”.

“With a remarkable track record and a demonstrated passion for innovation and success, Dr. Ryan Noach is exceptionally poised to steer the DNI Group to new heights.”

DNI’s existing CEO, Andrew Dunn, will transition into the role of Executive Chairman. Dunn is also DNI’s co-founder and has been the CEO since 2018.

Noach said, “I am truly privileged to be joining Andrew Dunn and the exceptional team at the DNI Group and to build upon the legacy established by Andrew.”

Dunn said, “As we take this step forward, I am excited to continue contributing to the company’s success in my new role as Executive Chairman.”

“Ryan Noach is the perfect leader to take the reins, and I have full confidence in his abilities to guide the DNI Group toward an even brighter future.”
