Discovery Bank suffers outage
Discovery Bank’s app and web platform services are now back online after an unexpected outage that followed their scheduled maintenance, which took longer to resolve than anticipated.
This was revealed by the bank in response to queries from Daily Investor after clients reported problems with logging onto the banking app and web platform.
“Discovery Bank app and web platforms services are restored after an outage took longer to resolve than anticipated following scheduled overnight maintenance,” the bank said.
“We take pride in our 99.99% availability track record, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused to our clients.”
Discovery Bank said that point-of-sale and other servicing channels were unaffected, enabling customers to continue using their digital and physical cards as normal.
“Importantly, point-of-sale and other servicing channels remained unaffected, with our technical team working tirelessly to restore full functionality to the app and web platforms.”
The majority of user issues were related to issues with online banking and mobile app logins. The online platforms for Discovery’s Health and Vitality services did not appear to be impacted.
Discovery Bank, alongside other financial services providers, typically conducts maintenance outside of business hours.
While the bank did that in this case, its online and banking app services were not restored after scheduled maintenance.
This led the banking app and web platform to display a “Maintenance mode” page when users tried to log in, with many complaining about the bank performing scheduled maintenance during business hours.
